Orion Space Opera book series and promotional poster
This is a book jacket series and promotional design project to create a new look for the Space Opera book series, intended to appeal to a science-fiction audience. I concentrated on five books within the series (Century Rain, 400 Billion Stars, Last and First Men, Rendezvous with Rama and Ringworld). I focused on creating shapes and colours, that closely relate to the topic of each book. Natural shapes were produced from stamp-pad prints of bearings, screws, lids and colligraph prints. The prints developed a series of patterns which gave an abstract feel to each book. Each of the five books connect as a series through a continuous overprinted pattern, shown on the bottom right. Minimal typography is used to focus on the printed patterns.
